Clinton, Trump tied among likely Florida voters

Hillary was ahead there for a while

That lead remains in a four-way race with Clinton at 44 percent support, Trump at 39 percent. Among registered voters, 49% say they trust Clinton on the issue, 47% Trump.

GOP strategist Mark Stephenson said his Red Oak Strategic's presidential tracking poll shows the race tightening - Clinton is down three points to 45pc with likely voters nationally, and Trump climbed three points to 42pc.

The findings aren't a major surprise. The emails, later revealed by WikiLeaks, showed some DNC officials favoring Clinton over her primary opponent, Bernie Sanders - who has since endorsed Clinton for president.

Trump, the Republican nominee, released an open letter early Tuesday from 88 retired generals and admirals citing an urgent need for a "course correction" on America's national security policy.

Why would she speak to the National Baptist Convention in Kansas City Thursday? MORE among military and veteran voters by double digits, according to a new NBC/Survey Monkey poll.

More news: Supreme Court Leaves Ohio Voting Restrictions In Place

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was fighting back in polls and set to spend millions on TV advertisements as the US presidential election unofficially kicked off in force on Monday.

While registered Republican continue to back Trump and Democrats back Clinton, it's the independents who are now giving Trump the edge.

Ohio: Trump, 41; Clinton, 37; Johnson, 14; Stein, 4.

And they say her ability to withstand scrutiny has been more needed than Trump's: 53% say he and his campaign have unfairly attacked Clinton, while just 43% think Clinton's attacks on Trump have been unfair. The New York billionaire has a 15-point lead over Clinton, a former US secretary of state, with 52 percent of people over the age of 65 choosing Trump, compared to 37 percent choosing Clinton.

CNN said the change comes from gains among voters made by Trump rather than a drop in support for Clinton.

OH voters are also basically evenly divided between Trump and Clinton in a one-on-one matchup, 46 percent-45 percent, but when third-party candidates are added, Trump has a 4-point lead 41 percent to 37 percent.

Mr. Trump visited a predominantly black church in Detroit on Saturday in a rare appearance with minority voters, aiming to counter Ms. Clinton's argument to moderate and suburban voters that he has allowed a racist fringe to influence his candidacy. Results have an error estimate of plus or minus 1.0 percentage points. A couple of percentage points may not seem like a big deal right now, but then, that's millions of potential voters to get off the fence.

But even despite the ocean between Trump and Clinton, it's easy to see how people might be undecided yet in this election, especially given the new prominence that Johnson and Stein have this year. The former secretary of state's trustworthiness plummeted to a record low amid a fresh wave of e-mail scandals (or at least e-mail-related headlines) and accusations that she gave preferential treatment to Clinton Foundation donors during her tenure at State. The results are very different to the previous week's report, which put Ms Clinton at 42% and Mr Trump at 38%.

The poll was conducted by telephone September 1-4 among a random national sample of 1,001 adults.
