Walking Dead S7: Creator Explains Why That Character Needed to Die [SPOILERS]

Negan may have broken Rick (Andrew Lincoln) during the Walking Dead Season 7 premiere, but he did mutter the words "I am going to kill you".

Whether you enjoy The Walking Dead television show or comic book better, everyone was pretty physically sick at what went down on last week's premiere, when everyone's favorite baddie, Negan took out two of our favorite heroes. It's one thing to exercise carte blanche of killing characters in comics, and another to repeat such an upsetting death to avoid diverging from source material. After Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham's (Michael Cudlitz) death, there are reports that Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) violence won't end with them. Later, Negan escapes, and as far as Walking Dead readers/viewers are concerned, Negan is alive somewhere, ready to strike at Carl and Rick.

Fans of the comics that The Walking Dead was based on knows what's coming up next, so why the cliffhanger?

Expressing frustration with his directions, cards, and crew, the rehearsals got back on track when the former The Walking Dead actor did some self-reassurances in a mirror and teased his hair to look more like Conan O'Brien's. While it was sad to witness the death of Abraham, see that Glenn was particularly hard. I think Daryl is a character that will blame himself.

According to Slate, the folks who bring "The Walking Dead" to the screen did what they set out to do. So, we have to suggest the possibility that someone else could kill him. "He hates the world that we're in, and he doesn't lose the fight in him, but he definitely no longer sees anything good in the world, that's for sure".

It seems that after seeing Lucille take care of Glenn, Daryl will go to places he's never been in as Reedus teased that his character will soon be in the dark.
