Police find Chicago teen whose sexual assault was seen on Facebook Live

Woman says she saw missing daughter assaulted on Facebook Live

A spokesman for the Chicago police chief states that a previously missing 15-year-old girl was found safe after it was discovered that she was apparently sexually assaulted by several boys and the rape was broadcast on Facebook Live.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the girl was found by Ogden District police officers, and was at Area Central headquarters with her mother. The teen's uncle called Stacey Elkins, her mother, and told her he had seen a live video of the girl being assaulted by a group of people.

The girl, who was reported missing Sunday afternoon, is said to be the victim of a gang rape that was live streamed over Facebook, reports Fox News.

While there aren't a statistically large number of crimes being streamed Facebook Live, the frequency in which they're occurring has increased with time. She hadn't seen her daughter since Sunday afternoon, when Austin left their home in the 1400-block of South Avers Avenue. On it, Elkins believes her daughter was being sexually assaulted.

Johnson immediately ordered an investigation, and the department asked Facebook to take down the video, which it did.

Police are now hunting for the owner of the Facebook page where the video was posted, as well as trying to identify the other people in the footage, the report stated.

"Here's what's even more disturbing, more than the fact that they did this, there were so many people that saw it and didn't pick up the phone to dial 911", Johnson told the TV station. Deahvion has disappeared once before but her mother says she was found later that day in a neighborhood park. "It's just not right". That assault, too, was live-streamed on Facebook, and received widespread media attention.
