Google Photos gains video stabilization option in latest update

The update 2.13 for Google Photos is now rolling on Google Play, and Google is expected to initiate the rollout for Android user in the coming days.

Google Photos is rolling out an update for Android, as part of v2.13, that makes a video stabilisation feature available so you can smoothen out shaky videos in your library. Tap on it to commence video processing.

When the process is finished, the button will now say "stabilized", and you can watch the new video and save it to your photo library. The resulting effect is achieved through cropping the video, so you won't get to see the clip in full after it has been processed.

Obviously, you have software stabilization doing its thing, so you will have a slight decrease in the quality of the video, but the result is definitely worth it.

Google Photos can conveniently be tagged among Google's best services. And a teardown of the APK also indicates that soon there might be Google+ integration within the app. That said, the outcome is far smoother videos compared to their originals. If you want to grab the latest version of Google Photos that has video stabilization included, you can grab the APK from the button below, although the update should already be live on the Play Store. The time taken to stabilise the video depends on the video's size, framerate, and processing capability of your device. Besides, none of the codes actually point to features specific to photo-sharing but circle-sharing. We still have no idea what Google plans to do with Google+ since they seem to be spinning off various features of it into brand new products.
