Google Photos gains video stabilization option in latest update

Google Photos Finally Adds Video Stabilization In v2.13

Download the latest version of Google Photos from the Play Store at the link below and let us know what you think of the video stabilization in the comments. Why is this, you ask? You'll notice that, at times, the resulting videos can look slightly artificial or warped - presumably, on the parts which have most needed stabilizing.

Yesterday, a long awaited feature finally made its debut on Google Photos for Android - video stabilization.

It is possible that Google could improve on the feature in the future, but for now it should do a good job of stabilizing your existing videos, assuming that they weren't too shaky to begin with. You can toggle the effect on and off to compare the results.

In its teardown of the APK, Android Police also discovered a quixotic reference to "Austin's Mystery Feature" buried in the code as well as some references to Google+ integration.

Using the video stabilizer in Google Photos is very simple. Press it, wait for a while for the stabilization to work its magic (it can take quite a while, especially for longer clips and older phones) and voila, you're done. Now, it looks likely to change with future updates in Photos app. Conclusively, it is doubtful if there's any actual functionality to add a feature directly related to Google+.

Google Photos was born just two years ago as a gallery application and cloud storage service for multimedia content generated and / or stored on the smartphone's memory.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Google has up its sleeves that once again ties Google Photos to its forgotten social network Google+.
