Obama faces criticism over Ksh40 MILLION Wall Street speech

Gasparino: Obama To Receive $400000 Fee For Cantor-Fitzgerald Wall Street Speech

Less than 100 days after leaving office, Mr Obama has followed through: accepting a $400,000 speaking fee from Cantor Fitzgerald, the mid-sized investment bank.

A spokesman for Obama declined to comment on the report.

Obama has agreed to speak at Cantor's health care conference in September and will be the keynote luncheon speaker for one day during the event, people at the firm tell FOX Business. The fee is also almost double that received by Hillary Clinton, who had hoped to replace him as president, for speeches at Goldman Sachs and indicates the scale of the potential earnings of the former United States president.

A number of liberals have come out against Obama's decision to speak at the Wall Street event, one Vox writer saying: "it will undermine everything he believes in".

Hillary Clinton copped backlash during her failed presidential bid for earning around $US200,000 for three speeches she gave to mega-bank Goldman Sachs.

"It feels like we're relying on the same tactics that got us in this mess in the first place - cosying up to Wall Street and alienating the entire Democratic base", he said.

What's more, quite recently this month, he and previous First Lady Michelle Obama were envisioned on board music head honcho David Geffen's extravagance yacht off French Polynesia.

Mr Obama appears to be enjoying life after the White House since he left office in January.
