Tech demo shows Scorpio's superior graphics at both 4K and 1080p

For this goal, Microsoft prepared a tech demo with a woman, apparently a scientist, in a steampunk laboratory, comparing the output differences between the base Xbox One and Project Scorpio. The above image demonstrates, in order from left-to-right, the resolution of the Xbox One, the Scorpio at 4K on a HD display, and the Scorpio at 4K native.

These image quality improvements aren't just limited to native 4K resolutions; there are even detail improvements to be found with Scorpio running at 4K on a 1080p display. While the difference isn't quite as dramatic, it looks like you'll still enjoy better overall clarity even if you don't upgrade to a 4K TV for Scorpio.

The 2017 Xbox Project Scorpio features new 8 custom x86 cores and it is an equitable 31-percent increase in speed over Microsoft's current Xbox One hardware.

The Scorpio images have been blown up and cropped by Windows Central, but the Xbox One snaps are exactly as presented by Microsoft.

Project Scorpio is expected to arrive in shops in time for Christmas this year and take over from the Xbox One S as the company's flagship device.

The Microsoft team also put together a ladybug demo to show how Project Scorpio could boost graphical fidelity in other ways.

Project Scorpio releases later this year.

On MSFT reported that a listing for Microsoft's Project Scorpio has been spotted on the Spanish online store which lists the launch price of the console as 399.99 Euros or around US$430. Project Scorpio is fairly priced, based on what the consumers have been shown so far, but with the lack of exclusives compared to PlayStation 4's steadily increasing and an already good library of exclusive games. That's them 6 teraflops of power at work, innit?

We expect devs to do some awesome things with Microsoft's new 4K Xbox, and Microsoft will no-doubt showcase some impressive surprises at E3 2017.

The idea stems from the declining fortunes of single-player games within the industry, giving way to multiplayer and the games-as-a-service model because they offer greater returns for developers and publishers.
