House intel Dem would review Kushner's clearance

"I have to say that, without specifically affirming or confirming these conversations - since, even though they're in the public realm, they're still classified - just from a theoretical standpoint, I will tell you that my dashboard warning light was clearly on and I think that was the case with all of us in the intelligence community", Clapper said during an exclusive interview on NBC's "Meet The Press".

Shortly after Trump's remarks on Twitter, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly made the rounds of Sunday television news shows to praise any so-called back channel communications, especially with Russian Federation, as "a good thing".

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of SC said it makes no sense that the Russian ambassador who reportedly spoke with Kushner would report that conversation to Moscow, knowing the USA would be monitoring the communications. Kushner, a key White House adviser, had meetings late previous year with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak, and Russian banker Sergey Gorkov.

The committee is investigating Russian entanglements by figures in Trump's circle, including fired national security advisor Michael Flynn, who has been the target of multiple subpoenas. The person wasn't authorized to publicly discuss private policy deliberations and insisted on anonymity. But the talks could have included anything from strategy on Syria, where Russia backs the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, to the more problematic question of lifting of USA sanctions for Russian financial institutions, potentially in exchange for Russian investments. Kushner has grown exhausted of the fact that nothing ever seems to really get done in the White House and everyone is just constantly fighting with each other.

Trump, meanwhile, resumed his Twitter postings from the White House on Sunday and dismissed any story based on anonymous sources.

On CNN's "State of the Union", Booker said he had "very serious concerns" but was not ready yet to call for Kushner's security clearance to be revoked.

The New York Times said the channel was never established. On that topic, Trump tweeted Sunday night: "I suggest that we add more dollars to Healthcare and make it the best anywhere". So one is this administration not talking about our values, cozying up to authoritarian leaders.

The disclosure of the back channel put the White House on the defensive. He has told friends that he and his wife, Ivanka Trump, have made no long-term commitment to remain by Mr. Trump's side, saying they would review every six months whether to return to private life in NY.

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 28, 2017 It is my opinion that numerous leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media.

"Whenever you see the words sources say in the fake news media, and they don t mention names it is very possible that those sources don t exsist but are made up by fake news writers".

Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly defended Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner Sunday following reports that he had attempted to set up a backchannel of communications with Russian Federation.

The White House believes any and all means of communication with Russia are good and healthy, even if they are conducted on Russian communications equipment created to evade American intelligence surveillance, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said Sunday.

"You always have to take into consideration that the Russians may be doing things that are created to throw you off the track or provoke discord". "What that allows you to do is communicate in a discrete manner".

"I can't imagine a scenario where it's OK for the Federal Bureau of Investigation director to jump in the middle of an election based on a fake email generated by the Russians and not tell the Congress", Graham said.
