Tensions rise between Dean Barker and Ben Ainslie after America's Cup crash

Ben Ainslie discusses Land Rover BAR's take on the USA

On an afternoon of light, shifty winds on the turquoise waters of the Great Sound, Oracle won two of three races to take a two-point lead in the Louis Vuitton Americas Cup Qualifiers.

Ainslie dominated the start and looked to have a commanding lead over the French crew, one of five challengers seeking to take on Oracle Team USA in the final next month.

Oracle, skippered by Australia Jimmy Spithill, beat BAR by 39 seconds, lost to Artemis by 39 seconds, and routed stablemates Team Japan by 54 seconds.

Sunday's results leave Britain second in the standings, level on three points with third-placed New Zealand and two points behind the US team.

Team New Zealand, who fell to Oracle's mighty comeback in the 2013 America's Cup in San Francisco, were a ideal two-for-two on Sunday, beating Team Japan and Land Rover BAR.

And then there was the America's Cup four years ago when Ainslie joined the Oracle Team USA crew when their hopes appeared over - duly calling the tactics that inspired one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history.

Sir Ben Ainslie has vowed to "come back fighting" after Land Rover BAR were surprisingly beaten by Groupama Team France in the America's Cup Qualifiers on Monday.

Four-time Olympic champion Ainslie later admitted his team had produced "our best race".

Beating Artemis by three seconds “was really good for the team, ” Team France skipper Franck Cammas said. The team that many said had not mastered stable foiling flight upwind demonstrated the strides they have made. They were penalised for a scary pre-start collision with SoftBank Team Japan and with visible damage to one hull finished 48 seconds behind the Japanese in the final race of the day.

They must now race all opponents again, starting with Sweden's Artemis on Tuesday. “Its just a shame we couldnt repay that work with some wins today, ” he said.

Emirates Team NZ skipper Peter Burling put his AC50 into the start box early and incurred a two boat-length penalty, but the Kiwis hurtled down the second leg of the course and slid around the mark ahead of the British. The two syndicates shared a design package, but SoftBank Team Japan, a startup syndicate, is clearly behind on the sailing front.

"It didn't happen last night so I'm guessing he'll probably to it tonight". When we got back here and went down on the hull, very quickly it began filling with water.
