Lynch says pending Raiders move was catalyst for return

Marshawn Lynch: Raiders' Las Vegas move ended retirement

Lynch said when he found out the Raiders were leaving Oakland to move to Las Vegas following the 2018 season, the Oakland native wanted to play for his hometown team.

"Maybe them staying probably wouldn't have been so big for me to want to come and play", he said Tuesday in his first news conference since joining the Raiders in April.

Lynch asked about team, playing w/ Carr and Mack: "I got the whole town riding w/ me". This time, though, the hole feels deeper mostly because Kevin Durant is now leading a team seeking revenge after blowing a 3-1 lead to Cleveland in last years Finals.

Lynch retired from the National Football League last season, but the Oakland Raiders traded with the Seattle Seahawks in April to get his rights and coaxed him back onto the playing field.

Ryan is now a student at Vassar College. I see him working with local youths in Oakland long after the Raiders move to Las Vegas. He has founded his own sports website, thejrreport.com and is a contributor at The Raiders Wire and Chargers Wire.

"To be honest, it was heartfelt, but, at the end of the day, I still walk outside so, beside the billboards and all that, I get out with the people", Lynch said.

"I think it's a testament to Marshawn as a whole", offensive coordinator Todd Downing said earlier this spring. So that's good what they've got going on, all that good (expletive) you just said, but I've got all Oakland behind me, though.

Foremost, players are not wearing pads and no contact is allowed in OTAs (Organized Team Activities) as the Seahawks learned a year ago when they got penalized when a receiver and defensive back (neither of whom was on the team's active roster last season) ran into each other going for a pass and bumped heads. That actually came from him during a press conference on Tuesday, his first with his new team, during OTAs.

"Why we represent where we're from so hard is because we know what the struggle is, and how we get down".

"I got the town - you feel me, though? - behind me", Lynch said. "It ain't like I'm saying, 'I'm coming to y'all's city and riding with y'all.' This, actually, I'm born and bred, raised. running down those alleyways, I really did that right here".

"Knowing they was leaving..." I really did all that right here and now I get to play right here.
