Saudi-Turkish ties strained over differing views on Qatar

"Decisions to cut ties with Qatar are a sovereign right of the States concerned and aim to protect their national security from the dangers of terrorism and extremism", said a joint declaration by the United Nations envoys of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain.

The UAE has also chose to blacklist Qatari individuals and entities.

The Arabic-language account of Al Jazeera has been suspended on Twitter because of what the Qatari network calls "an organised campaign".

Twitter later reinstated the account Saturday, a move that comes after Arab nations have blocked websites and broadcasts by Doha-based Al-Jazeera.
