Sean Spicer might be leaving White House podium

Report: Sean Spicer is interviewing his own replacement

"There is a suppression of information going on at this WH that would not be tolerated at a city council mtg or press con with a state gov", Acosta wrote on Twitter.

Acosta also railed at Spicer dodging questions, charging, "The White House press secretary is getting to a point, Brooke, where he is just kind of useless".

When President Trump was inaugurated in January, Spicer was running the communications team and serving as press secretary.

The daily briefings from the White House podium were frequently broadcast live on the major cable news networks and his combative back-and-forths with reporters soon earned him a lampooning on NBC's "Saturday Night Live", where actress Melissa McCarthy's portrayal of him has become a national sensation.

Comey told lawmakers that he hoped the tapes did exist since he was confident they would corroborate his memo. "If he can't come out and answer the questions and they are just not going to do on camera or audio, why are we having these briefings in the first place?" "It just doesn't make any sense to me", he added. Spicer and his deputy, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, have been decreasing the number of press gaggles they hold and how long they stay at them, according to The Washington Post.

The president and top White House aides have reportedly criticized Spicer for his response to several high-profile incidents, including Trump's firing of James Comey as FBI director and an investigation into leakers within the communications staff, but Spicer is still considered one of the president's greatest assets. More recently, reporters have noted, audio has been restricted as well.
