HMD bring back Nokia 3310 in 3G

Nokia 8 Is this the true One Plus 5 killer?More

HMD Global backed Nokia 3310 was highly accepted all over the world. The phone will go on sale in Australia from October 16.

The Nokia 3310, as pointed out in our review, has several features that elevate it above its 17-year-old predecessor.

But now - at a press launch in Australia - HMD has quietly rebooted the phone to come with 3G capabilities, just half a year after being shown off. The Next Web reached out to Sarvikas on Twitter and he confirmed that the Nokia 3310 will indeed work in the US. In developed regions like US, UK and Canada, there is very little availability of 2G network as majority of cellular carriers have upgraded to 3G networks. However, there were some bad-talks about the device, as the network capability of the device was limited to just 2G.

Connectivity options apart from 3G support include a micro USB port (USB 2.0), 3.5mm audio jack and Bluetooth 2.1, which can be used to connect with wireless speakers and other phones. Along with 3G connectivity, this new variant of the Nokia 3310 (2017) will also feature new customization options for rearranging icons, while you'll also be able to choose different color themes. It'll retail for for €69 ($80.95/AU$$89.95). Built in storage has been boosted on the 3G model, from 16MB to 64MB but both devices support MicroSD cards, as stated above.

The move to 3G does mean that battery life takes a hit, in the form of 6.5 hours of talk time and "up to" 27 days of standby time. All these phones have a matte finish which prolongs the durability of the device and they even sport shiny, new silver keypads.

The Nokia 3310 has finally gotten a 3G variant as rumored a few months ago, enabling faster data connections within the same retro package. It will be offered in four colors (Yellow, Warm Red, Azure and Charcoal). It is backed by a 1200mAh battery. There is a new colour in the form of light blue, though, for anyone offended by Navy Blue. The feature phone was literally useless in many countries where the telecom operators do not provide 2G support.
