Facebook is giving the USA government more and more data

Pakistan Govt Request to Facebook for Restricting Content Rise Sharply

The U.S. government made 32,716 requests for data in the latest period, up 26 percent from the second half of 2016, Facebook said in its latest report.

Specifically, Facebook restricted content for apparently violating law 28,036 times in the first six months of 2017, compared to 6,944 from the prior half-year.

The report covers every information request from across the world over the first half of the year - apart from those subject to national security delays. The governments of these countries had more than 50 percent of their requests granted. (FB) said that requests for user data from governments worldwide continued to increase.

Facebook also announced on Monday that it removed almost 3 million posts, including videos, ads and other forms of content, from its services during the period under review, following complaints of counterfeiting and copyright and trademark infringement.

Law enforcement authorities are permitted to confidentially request personal data from Facebook to obtain account details ranging from IP addresses, photos, messages, credit card details and email addresses. The U.S. tech company restricted the content 20,056 times due to the law enforcement in the country's requests and concerns. It also includes data covering the volume and nature of copyright, trademark, and counterfeit reports we've received and the amount of content affected by those reports.

The U.S., India, UK, Germany, and France were the most dynamic in making information demands, representing 41 percent, 12 percent, nine percent, seven percent and six percent of the numbers, individually.

Much of the increase was driven by one case in which Mexican police asked Facebook to stop the circulation of a video taken during a school shooting in Monterrey in January. This number is up a whopping 50% from a year ago, with Facebook adding that there has been a massive 304% increase in the number of content restrictions around violating local law. Facebook was disrupted 21 times in the first half for the Indian users.

It, however, did not say exact;y what kind of information Dhaka had requested for. Around 70,000 requests for copyright were submitted to Instagram, with 685,000 posts removed. On Instagram, the company removed 10,094 posts following 10,231 counterfeit claims.
