Trump Reportedly Considered Pulling Supreme Court Nomination After Gorsuch Criticized Him

Trump reportedly spoke about possibly rescinding the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch

"A story in the @washingtonpost that I was close to "rescinding" the nomination of Justice Gorsuch prior to confirmation is FAKE NEWS". In conclusion, the commander in chief added, "The unnamed sources don't exist!"

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch was known for his flair for language well before his appointment to the high court, but apparently his talents are not limited to judicial opinions.

"He's probably going to end up being a liberal like the rest of them", Trump then groused to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan during a sitdown. He also told aides that he knew of other judges who would want the position. In response to the news, Trump pushed back. Short told the Post he never considered the Gorsuch nomination to be in jeopardy, but he did appear to confirm the anecdote of the missing note.

Gorsuch declined the Post's request for comment, but White House spokesman Raj Shah did provide a statement. "And you were so kind to recognize Mrs. Scalia, remember the justice [Scalia], and mention me".

As a Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has already swayed the Court further to the right, in rulings, in cases accepted, and in cases denied. "My teenage daughters were cheering the TV!" The president called one a "so-called" judge, and described an appeals court panel as "disgraceful". But if true, the report further bolsters former FBI Director James Comey's claim that Trump summoned him to the White House and repeatedly said he needed his "loyalty". "The process obviously caused frustration, but that frustration was compounded by the fact that Gorsuch had sent him a personal letter that he never received".

The Senate later confirmed Gorsuch on a vote of 54 to 45. On Twitter he accused Blumenthal (and thus Bonjean) of lying about what Gorsuch said, and attacked the senator for misrepresenting his Vietnam service years ago.
