The microchip flaw affects device running the company's iOS and macOS operating systems, as well as the Apple TV. Because these processors and their architecture is commonly used on almost on smartphones, laptops, computers, etc it means every single known device is vulnerable to these exploits.
The tech development expert has said the Apple watch isn't affected by Meltdown and that it has already released updates to protect other products from that problem.
On Wednesday, Alphabet Inc's Google and other security researchers disclosed two major chip flaws, one called Meltdown affecting only Intel Corp chips and one called Spectre affecting almost all computer chips made in the last decade.
Just a day after the disclosure of the deadly Spectre, Meltdown bugs in Intel, AMD and ARM-based processor chips, Apple has revealed that their all devices (iOS and macOS), which come integrated with one of the aforementioned branded chips are also vulnerable to the security breach.
According to the tech giant, despite the issues being present, there have been no known exploits to hit any Apple product users so far.
Apple said it will release an update for its web browser, Safari, in the next few days.
"Since exploiting many of these issues requires a malicious app to be loaded on your Mac or iOS device, we recommend downloading software only from trusted sources such as the App Store", it said in a statement. We continue to develop and test further mitigations for these issues and will release them in upcoming updates of iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS.
Meltdown - which may affect desktop, laptops, and cloud computers - can be found on the vast majority of processors designed by Intel since 1995, except for its Itanium and Atom processors before 2013.
The company has said that it will release a patch to protect its browser, Safari, against Spectre.
The vulnerabilities - which exist at a hardware level - put the onus on system creators such as Apple, Microsoft and Google to release patches at an operating system level to prevent hackers from exploiting the opportunity to steal passwords, credit card numbers and other vital details. It was first discovered by Project Zero in June past year.
