Carabao Cup Semi-Final, Chelsea vs Arsenal

Arsenal players

Arsenal are aiming to reach their first Carabao Cup final since 2011, but first they have to negotiate a way passed the current Premier League champions Chelsea.

The Gunners head into the game looking to bounce back to winning ways following the disappointment of their shock FA Cup third-round defeat by Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Blues boss, Antonio Conte, named a very strong team for the game, but they were unable to see off a patched-up Arsenal squad.

Chelsea are now in third place in the Premier League table as they look to try and get closer to leaders Manchester City.

However, Arsenal will now be sweating on Wilshere's fitness after he limped off during the Gunners' clash with Chelsea.

Alex Iwobi was selected despite Wenger saying he could be fined for reportedly partying until the early hours of Saturday morning and the Arsenal winger nearly repaid his manager's faith with a drive that Courtois pushed away.

The Video Assistant Referee was used during the match and it proved Arsenal should not be awarded a penalty after a perceived Moses foul on Maitland-Miles.

Fabregas should have given Chelsea the lead just before half-time, but the former Arsenal midfielder wastefully headed straight at Ospina from close-range.

A thunderous Moses volley was blocked from harm's way by Shkodran Mustafi in the 66th minute, right before Sanchez came on for Lacazette to try to spark Arsenal's attack to life.
