Calling the arrest a "big success", Pramod Singh Kushwaha, DCP, Special Cell Delhi Police confirmed, "Khan was involved in many bombing incidents including 2008 Delhi serial blasts, 165 people died in incidents he was involved in".

The dreaded gunfight, known as Batla House encounter, took place six days after serial bomb blasts rocked Delhi, claiming the lives of at least 30 people.

During the Batla House operation, encounter specialist Mohan Chand Sharma was killed.

In November 2007, three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were thrashed at the Lucknow sessions courts. They parted ways after which Khan came in contact with his uncle, living in Nepal, who helped him procure a fake Nepal citizenship card and passport.

Initially, he and his elder brother Shariq Khan stayed with their uncle Dr Fakhre Alam and started studying at the Shibly National Nursery School from where he shifted to another school, the officer said.

Junaid (32) married a Hindu woman in Nepal around four years back who, after converting to Islam, was called Sarah, officials privy to details said. He returned to Nepal from Saudi Arabia in March 2017 and would occasionally travel to India.
