Volvo has released the first details and images of its new V60 estate, which will make its debut at the Geneva motor show in a couple of weeks before going on sale in the United Kingdom in the autumn priced from £31,810 on the road.
The SPA-based V60 is claimed to introduce a new standard to the mid-size premium estate segment with a luxurious interior, increased levels of space, advanced connectivity and Volvo's.
It is assumed that Volvo V60 will be built on a modular platform SPA. There will also be regular petrol and diesel engines. A more detailed pricing structure will be announced soon.
Apart from staying, the two vehicles are also expected to share a number of new components mechanically, including powertrains. This version features an 8-speed automatic transmission and reaches speeds of 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds. Total system output for the plug-in T6 AWD drivetrain is 340 hp and 435 lb. -ft. of torque, with a fully electric driving range of about 28 miles. Available with petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid power, the V60 will cost £31,810 when it arrives in September and be one of the first Volvo cars to be available on a deposit-free subscription service, with a flat fee covering finance, insurance and servicing costs. Pilot Assist can steer, accelerate and brake "on well-marked roads" up to 81mph and has been 'upgraded with improved cornering performance'. Other standard safety features include drowsy driver monitoring and oncoming lane alert systems.
The new Volvo V60 is 4.6 inches longer than the XC60, measuring 187.4 inches in length, while the wheelbase is 113 inches.
The vehicle will also feature the company's Sensus infotainment system, which is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and keeps drivers connected at all times.
As often, it's safety first with Volvo's and the new V60 is no different. New "digital key" technology is also available for the new V60, which allows owners of the auto to share the wagon with friends and family.
Håkan Samuelsson, head honcho of Volvo Cars, says that 'the family estate driver is an important customer for our business and has been for generations.
"The new V60 honours that tradition but also takes it much further".
