Kremlin rejects United States charge Russian Federation in breach of arms control treaties

RT America

The Pentagon on Thursday dismissed Putin's boasts about developing a new array of nuclear weapons, saying America's missile defense is ready to protect the nation but is not directed at Russian Federation.

In his annual state-of-the-nation speech in Moscow, Putin said the weapons include a nuclear-powered cruise missile, a nuclear-powered underwater drone and new hypersonic missile and showed video footage the launch of a new heavy intercontinental ballistic missile on big screens.

Russia's embassy to the U.S. issued a separate statement, pointing out that the Sarmat missile Putin showcased is within the provisions of the 1982 INF treaty.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders made the allegation on Thursday after President Vladimir Putin announced an array of new nuclear weapons, saying they could hit nearly any point in the world and evade a USA -built missile shield. Putin said initial production is underway.

White didn't say whether Russian and Chinese threats would be mentioned in the new policy.

While Russia may have achieved a technological breakthrough, it's just as likely that "the Kremlin is counting on a miracle", said Alexander Golts, an independent defense analyst based in Moscow.

He denied any knowledge of their actions and added that the defendants "do not represent the Russian state" or "the Russian authorities". "This is a very strong argument for those who want to develop the US military potential". Putin said the propulsion system was tested successfully late a year ago.

The hypersonic vehicle "flies at a speed 20 times the speed of sound. and it can maneuver thousands of kilometers up and down and right to left", Putin said, gesticulating energetically. "Give us an official request". "One-hundred percent you do, and people who are well-educated, who must understand that we, Russia, can not prosecute anyone if they have not violated Russian law. To date, those technologies have been designed and put into practice only by Russian Federation", the source said.

Hyten called China's ballistic missile development program the world's "most active and diverse". I do not know what they were guided by.

A number of lawmakers have been pressing the Pentagon to deploy ground-based interceptors at a new East Coast missile site - which theoretically would allow the military to take a second shot at a missile coming from North Korea and a first shot at a missile from Iran.
