Spring time change is Sunday

Remember to set your clocks an hour forward when you go to bed Saturday night

While it's disgusting that we're all losing an hour of sleep, we're gaining an hour of daylight. For instance, if you go to bed at 11 p.m. on Saturday, set your clocks ahead one hour to midnight.

Unless, you're a farmer from 1908, chances are you don't have much use for daylight savings time.

While residents will lose an hour of sleep when the clocks spring forward, they will gain an hour of daylight.

We know it's coming every year, but that doesn't make springing forward any easier.

According to Dr. Estemalik, Daylight Saving Time can be a trigger for people who suffer from cluster headaches too.

"If you track overall vehicle accidents, and you track job accidents, and you track job performance there is pretty good large epidemiologic studies that show that there is a temporary bump (in numbers) for those first few days after the time change".

The idea of losing an hour of sleep this weekend has ZERO appeal to me.

The clock-moving has also been shown to correlate with negative health effects, as strokes and heart attacks increase in the days following the clock change.

The Miami Herald said the U.S. Department of Transportation is charged with setting time zones but states can still exempt themselves from daylight saving time, if Congress approves.

DST's current schedule in the United States was established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, which extended summer time from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, shrinking "standard time" to just four months of the year. Staying on daylight saving time could have particular benefits in New England, which, as the easternmost region of a sprawling time zone, endures very early winter sunsets. When we have to get up early, and it's still entirely dark outside, we probably wish standard time were still in place.

Benjamin Franklin did not propose Daylight Saving Time.
