UK Citizens' Sentiment Almost Evenly Split on Year Before Brexit

She had signed Article 50 exactly a year ago, which means Britain's membership to the European Union (EU) will end on March 28, 2019.

Speaking to voters in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, Theresa May will say that, whether they voted Leave or Remain, what is important now is making Brexit "a success for everyone".

However, Brexit has brought a great deal of uncertainty to the meat sector and, according to the International Meat Association, the industry is still far from knowing what the future UK-EU trade relationship will be.

The PM will start the day by visiting textile workers at a factory in Ayrshire, before travelling to Newcastle to meet with a local parent and toddler group.

"Make no mistake, this government is absolutely committed to the devolution settlements as we have demonstrated beyond question with landmark pieces of legislation over the last few years".

Prime Minister Theresa May first hinted that the nation's massive foreign aid budget could be used as a bargaining chip in her security speech in Munich on February 17th. "I am determined that as we leave the EU, and in the years ahead, we will strengthen the bonds that unite us, because ours is the world's most successful union", she said in a statement.

She replied: "Of course, when we leave the European Union, we'll no longer be spending vast sums of money, year in and year out, sending that money to the European Union, so there will be money available here in the United Kingdom to spend on our priorities like the NHS and schools". But longer-term forecasts show growth grinding lower over the next five years and lagging worldwide rivals.

Despite misgivings about the government's performance and doubts about the result of the negotiations with the European Union, 68 percent of the respondents say that "those who voted against Brexit should respect the will of the majority" - with only 35 percent thinking there should be a second referendum.

The people of Britain, the world's sixth-largest economy, caused a major global shock in 2016 by voting narrowly to quit the European Union after a fevered referendum campaign that sharpened regional divisions, pitted young against old and exposed a deep distrust between voters and the political establishment.

When asked whether Brexit is good or bad for the country, the margin remains very slim - with 46% responding it is a bad idea and 44% saying it is a good idea.

However, because Britain will be leaving the European Union next year, the United Kingdom won't benefit from the new rules.
