Julian Edelman may have helped prevent a school shooting in MI

New England Patriots star Julian Edelman may have stopped school shooting

Many of Julian Edelman's followers were concerned by a comment on one of his photos. The New England Patriots receiver was visiting his former teammate Danny Amendola in Texas when he received a terrifying direct message on Instagram.

Edelman immediately reacted when he thought about the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people. "I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news", the comment read.

Moen, who was then in Boston, contacted the police who sent officers to Moen's house to see the screenshot of the threatening comment.

It all started with an Instagram post.

The detectives called police in MI, who immediately drove to the house where the threatening message originated. Per the report, the authorities managed to gain special access to determine the sender's IP address, which they traced to Port Huron, Michigan.

Platzer said the boy's threat was aimed at the middle school that he attends in a nearby township. He was charged with making a false report of a threat of terrorism, a felony, according to The Times.

In the age of the internet, it can be very hard to tell how serious someone's comments might be. The boy was taken to a juvenile-detention centre, where he remains.

Edelman's assistant was relieved to find out the potential crisis had been prevented.

In response to questions about the disturbing posting on Edelman's account, Boston Police Department spokeswoman Maisha Miraj would neither confirm nor deny who was involved, but said, "We were alerted to a post". According to The Times, Edelman and his assistant were trying to track down the Instagram user who sent him the direct message, to send him something for his help in thwarting a possible school shooting.
