Prince Charles kicks off his 16th tour of Australia

Prince Charles left and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall center arrive with Aboriginal Elder Ted Williams during the opening ceremony for the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast Australia Wednesday

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are now on a tour of Australia, where Charles officially opened the Commonwealth Games.

The recently resurfaced rumor stems from an anecdote in Tom Bower's new royal biography, Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles.

Two policemen were hospitalised after they were involved in a high speed crash while escorting Prince Charles and Camilla Parker to the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Gold Coast.

Jase: "Hello Charles. Is it true that you carry your own toilet seat when you travel?"

Prince Charles used a ideal choice of words to dispel an ongoing toilet-related rumour. We'll probably never know.

The visit equals his mother Queen Elizabeth II's tally of 16 royal tours of the former British colony and comes as the 91-year-old monarch winds back her global travel commitments.

Prince Charles and Camilla will also visit cities including Darwin and Cairns, as well as the South Pacific island of Vanuatu to see how it is recovering from a devastating cyclone in 2015.

Earlier, Commonwealth Games organisers have defended Camilla for looking jaded during Wednesday's opening ceremony at the Gold Coast, saying the Duchess of Cornwall was "shattered" from her travel schedule rather than disinterested in the show. It is the first time since Australia became a self-governing country 117 years ago that both the Prime Minister and opposition agree on this. In an upcoming book about Prince Harry's fiancee, Meghan Markle, writer Andrew Morton claims that the Suits star became fascinated with the royals following Princess Diana's death in 1997.
