Seahawks ask Kaepernick if he'll kneel, postpone quarterback's workout, reports say

Seahawks postpone workout with Colin Kaepernick

The Seahawks reportedly postponed a pre-scheduled visit for Colin Kaepernick after the ex-49ers quarterback declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

According to the report by ESPN, the Seahawks are still considering trying Kaepernick out, but they have not made any decision on the matter.

Kaepernick famously began sitting out national anthems in 2016, in protest over the United States government's treatment of people of color domestically and overseas.

Kaepernick, 30, remains unsigned despite being a former starter, which has led to a belief by some that National Football League teams have blackballed him as a result of his protest.

After Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers parted company a little over a year ago, he went unsigned in 2017, following a relatively successful 2016 campaign.

Kaepernick has been at the center of the two-year controversy.

"After hours of careful consideration, and even a visit from Nate Boyer, a retired Green Beret and former N.F.L. player, we came to the conclusion that we should kneel, rather than sit, the next day during the anthem as a peaceful protest".

"Seattle said it wouldn't be worth his time and shouldn't bother with the travel and that it's not worth coming if he continued kneeling or doing on-field activism", a source told SB Nation. The Seahawks had planned for Colin Kaepernick to work out for them earlier this week. McNair has said he was referring to team executives and not kneeling players. "He's not going to have a big a market as you may think, but the anthem issue was brought up, has been reported about with him, now with Colin Kaepernick, so clearly this is not going away".

Our sources say the team reached out to Kaepernick with specific questions about his kneeling protest - and essentially wanted him to stipulate that if signed, he would NOT kneel during the 2018 season.

Head coaches John Harbaugh of the Ravens and the team's general manager, Ozzie Newsome, are also on the request list from Kaepernick's attorneys.
