Ram Nath Kovind in MP to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti

A statue of B.R. Ambedkar in Dugraiyya village in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district where his saffron coat was painted blue after protests by dalits

In a message, Kovind said, Dr Ambedkar was a multifaceted personality whose impact on the society and nation has remained relevant and will remain relevant.

Chamling hailed Ambedkar for his selfless service to the nation and recalled his role in the framing of Indian constitution. He said Babasaheb has given us the Constitution which ensures equal rights and justice to all and the government is committed to protect it.

In the morning, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: "Pujya Babasaheb gave hope to lakhs of people belonging to the poorest and marginalised sections of society". This Fundamental Right ensured that every Indian has the right to a dignified life.

Among other leaders, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and chief ministers of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, Devendra Fadnavis, Raghubar Das, Yogi Adityanath, K Palanisami and K Chadrasekhar Rao respectively, also paid homage to Ambedkar.
