Don't Miss! Check Out The New Trailer For 'Venom'

First Look at Tom Hardy as Venom Leaks Online John F. Trent

The character of Eddie Brock first appeared in the original 2002 Spider-Man movie as an active freelance photographer at The Daily Bugle. Too people unaware, Venom is a Marvel comics character, who starts off as Spiderman's villain in the comics but later becomes an anti-hero.

We'll see how that deal works out when "Venom" hits theaters on October 5. In the Ruben Fleischer-directed film, Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is an investigative journalist who discovers questionable experiments conducted on human test subjects by the Life Foundation.

Now that Spider-Man exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Venom" exists separately from the Tom Holland movie. You can check out the new Venom trailer below.

Hardy was on hand at CinemaCon for the reveal of the latest trailer - which included the first look at Brock's transformation into a very comic-accurate looking Venom. While it was a rather brief appearance, we have to admit that it does look considerably better than Topher Grace's Venom from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 back in 2007. The trailer ends with Brock being enveloped by the alien symbiote as he declares, "We are Venom". But Brock gets bitten by one of these specimens and turns out his body is a good host and Venom can thrive.

"Venom: Lethal Protector" was a limited series in 1993 written by David Michelinie in collaboration with artist Mark Bagley.

The trailer packs in plenty of ridiculous action scenes, augmented by decent CGI, and gives Hardy and co-stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Jenny Slate bits of narrative exposition in place of character development.

I don't know about you, but I think this trailer looks dumb as hell and makes Venom look like it has the potential to be one of the absolute worst movies of the year.
