The birth of the newest member of the royal family falls on St George's day, a fitting birthday for a potential King.

"It's a BOY - 8lbs 7oz", Arbiter wrote on Twitter. "The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth". The new baby, born at St. Mary's in London Monday morning, will be fifth in line, knocking Prince Harry down a level.

The name of the baby boy will be announced in due course, the palace said.

While William, 35, and Kate, 36, didn't answer questions from the media after debuting their newborn son, the proud dad of three told onlookers that they were "very happy, delighted" about their new addition as he secured his son into his auto seat.

"We didn't keep you waiting too long", he joked about their quick hospital stay.

Prince William was also in attendance, riding in the auto with Harry and Markle, but his wife Kate Middleton, pregnant with their third child, opted to stay home.

The two-year-old made history when her brother entered the world, thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013. Overnight, as she revealed the newest addition to the Royal family, the Duchess wore the same designer and paralleled the red-dress-with-the-white-collar that Princess Diana wore when she exited the hospital with her son Harry.

Traditionally, a female royal would be bypassed by a younger brother, which is why Prince Andrew and Prince Edward and their respective children are closer to the throne than Princess Anne, who is older. She remains fourth in the line of succession, after grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, and older brother Prince George.
