Charlie Rose Sexually Harassed 3 CBS Staffers, Suit Claims

Charlie Rose Sued by 3 CBS Staffers for Sexual Harassment

A lawsuit was filed Friday in the Charlie Rose sexual harassment case.

CBS said in a statement, "We will vigorously defend against the allegations pertaining to CBS News and Mr. Kadro".

They also claim CBS "unlawfully retaliated" against one of them and that the company "failed to investigate the matter".

Rose could not immediately be reached for comment. A report in The Washington Post earlier this week detailed 27 additional allegations of harassment and that managers had been warned about Rose's conduct at least three times over a 30 year period.

The lawsuit alleges that "CBS This Morning" Executive Producer Ryan Kadro "knew that Mr. I am greatly embarrassed".

Friday's lawsuit is likely to be the first of several. They allege Rose pulled them close to his body and kissed them on the cheek.

The lawsuit also alleges Rose asked Harris and McNeal to share details of their sex lives, "boasted of his own sexual conquests" and suggested the two women should engage in a sexual relationship with each other.

Rose referred to Wei as a "China doll" and caressed her arms when she handed him papers, according to the lawsuit.

He also whispered, "Happy birthday, dear" into her ear in a sexual manner, the lawsuit states. Rose sexually harassed them and that managers knew about complaints against him before November, when he was sacked.

Harris, the lawsuit says, joined CBS in January of 2016, and said Rose started noticing her, taking her to lunch at expensive restaurants. Shortly thereafter, Rose himself was suspended and then fired.

It is worth noting that the lawsuit in question may not necessarily be the last one, as the three women who sued the former CBS anchor are not the only women who accused him of improper behavior.

In this August 10, 2015 file photo, Political Director for CBS News, John Dickerson, participates in the CBS News panel at the CBS Summer TCA Tour in Beverly Hills, Calif. CBS News has selected Dickerson as Charlie Rose's replacement on the "CBS This Morning" program, pairing him with current anchors Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell.

The retaliation component of the lawsuit stems from Wei's account that she was removed from her position as an anchor assistant several months after she filed a complaint with CBS human resources on November 30, just days after Rose was sacked. Ms. Wei has been on medical leave since March, the suit said.

CBS News said it could not confirm or corroborate numerous stories told by The Post.

Rose was sacked in November of 2017 after the Post published a lengthy investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against him. One of the plaintiffs in that 1986 lawsuit, Beth Homan-Ross, said of working with Rose, "It was a sexual land mine everywhere you stepped".

"CBS was fully aware of".

The Post has since reported that a total 35 women have come forward with allegations against Rose, whom one former intern reportedly said "falls toward the worst end of the spectrum" of sexual harassment.
