Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6: Hulu passes on revival

Ugh, Brooklyn Nine-Nine Was Canceled

It's true that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled on Thursday by Fox - along with other shows The Mick and Last Man Standing - to make room for its slate of new fall shows and Thursday Night Football.

Streaming service Hulu, the savior of all beloved series, was quick to express an interest in renewing Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a sixth season.

With rallying cries from critics, fans, and celebrity viewers like Mark Hamill, Seth Meyers, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, it might already be working. There were temporary discussions about bringing the show over in a way that was similar to The Mindy Project following its own cancellation.

It is the end of the road for the cop comedy series, which was the only remaining show from an outside studio, Universal TV, on Fox.

Deadline also mentioned TBS as a potential home, since TBS picked up the off-network rights to "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", and the network is run by the guy who developed and picked up the show while running Fox.

Regardless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was the highest-rated live-action comedy on Fox. NBC's total comedy orders so far this season sit at two - off one from a year ago.

Another streaming network interested is Hulu, a company which has a proven track record in rejuvenating seemingly dead TV shows. It pushed the boundaries of representation in television (for example, this season featured an episode where Detective Rosa Diaz came out as bisexual). Samberg's co-stars Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio and Stephanie Beatriz thank the fans who supported their show.

Executive-producer and co-creator Dan Goor retweeted numerous statements of support from such Hollywood figures as actor Sean Astin and Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro.

"I certainly feel we're in a good place, but as to whether or not we get more, that's obviously far beyond my reach".
