Meghan, who claimed to have whispered "I'm nervous" to Prince Harry, cut an elegant figure in a baby pink ensemble with matching headpiece.

"We also loved how her flowing hair was down in majestic curls and we can't ignore the huge smile on her face", Dishaw said. The queen's husband, 96-year-old Prince Philip, has retired from royal duties.

After all, it is a huge responsibility being a Duchess, and although Meghan boasted a refined sense of fashion even in her acting days, it is a different ball game when you are part of the royal family.

The princess - who has earned recognition in the past for her waves and curtsies - frequently wears Mary-Janes and wore custom Aquazzura shoes in a bright white at uncle Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle in May.

This year, Middleton wore another McQueen creation in a cheerful light blue colour that was worn by several members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

There are bigger things to worry about than whether the Duchess of Sussex follows every single minute royal dress protocol.

Despite her apparent nerves, Meghan was in high spirits when she arrived on House Guards Parade with Harry in a carriage, along with the Queen's cousin the Duke of Kent. Harry, who stayed glued to his wife's side the whole time, made Meghan lose her regal composure with some wisecrack - forcing her to turn away from the cameras as she burst into giggles.

Following her recent eye operation to remove a cataract, the Queen showed no ill effects and was not wearing sunglasses as she has at some outdoor events. Others, however, were quick to rush to her defense saying that Meghan was bringing a fresh look to the usual "stuffy" royal etiquette.
