Speaking to reporters outside the White House Trump defended his decision to unilaterally halt joint military exercises with South Korea after the summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un. So much so that Trump said, "I want my people to do the same". "Don't let anyone think anything different", Trump continued.

An internal report has revealed Israeli foreign ministry officials' reservations over the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un, despite the government's public endorsement.

Mr. Trump said sanctions will come off of North Korea soon, "when we can be sure there is no more nuclear" weapons.

U.S. President Donald Trump took aim at longtime adversaries, including former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey and CNN, before going on the defensive when asked about the North Korean leader's human rights record, during an impromptu and wide-ranging media briefing Friday.

Trump said he got "everything" in the deal with Kim.

Since the summit, many critics have argued that Trump made numerous concessions without getting concrete promises from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Efforts to recover missing remains stalled more than a decade ago when USA officials couldn't guarantee the safety of American recovery teams sent into North Korea.

"I'm not going to get into all of the details of their private conversation, but I can tell you, as the president has already publicly stated, that he did bring up human rights abuses of the North Korean regime", press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters at the press briefing.

"He can now call me if he has any difficulties, I can call him".

Experts were concerned the moment could be used in North Korea's propaganda, but Mr Trump said he was showing respect to the general.

Mr Trump returned to the United States from Singapore two days ago after his face-to-face talks with Mr Kim. "But I think we understand each other", he said.

They agreed to implement a 2004 agreement, in which the two sides' militaries vowed to work to prevent unexpected clash in the West Sea, a joint statement said.

The statement echoes remarks Trump gave during an interview shortly after the summit concluded, where he commended the "great fervor" Kim strikes among North Koreans.

Mr Putin's invitation to Mr Kim comes after Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov visited Pyongyang in May for the first time since 2009.

According to the Gallup Korea poll, 66 percent of respondents said the DPRK-U.S. summit was well done.
