Hollande who visited 450 reception centres set up to welcome Calais migrants, said there were 1,500 unaccompanied minors, who would be transferred to reception centres. The accommodation soon filled to capacity and now numerous migrants have been forced to sleep outdoors. Some had been refusing to budge from the site near Calais port, to which migrants have flocked for years in the hope of stowing away on a truck crossing the Channel to Britain. (more...)

The unadjusted US rate was 4.8% in September, down from 5% in August and 4.9% a year earlier. Falling oil prices kept inflation under wraps in those years. Medicare Part B and the Social Security trust fund are interconnected, and most seniors on Medicare have their doctor and hospital care premiums automatically deducted from their Social Security checks.
