February's reading indicates a sixth consecutive month of expansion in manufacturing, as readings over 50 points denote expansion. Backlog of orders in February saw a significant gain, rising 7.5 percent to 57.0, and with production at its highest level in several months, Holcomb said that this increase was still not enough to really chew into the backlog, making things promising on that front for the coming months. The ARTBA report did find that the number of deficient bridges slightly declined by 0.5 percent, or 2,785 bridges, compared to 2015, but that pace would take more than two decades to replace or fix all of the bridges.
