Ahead of Friday's ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II joined leaders around the world in eulogizing Peres , releasing a statement Wednesday night saying she was "greatly saddened to learn of the death of Shimon Peres ". Peres passed away Wednesday after suffering a massive stroke and being hospitalized. Peres has been hailed among western leaders as a man of peace, but Arab leaders have greeted his death mostly with silence. (more...)
